Do you know an Engineering Graduate looking for a job?

I can’t believe that I am going to say this but....I can't believe that a Graduate Export Executive role I am working on is not filled yet! I have been working with a superb small to medium sized engineering firm that service some of the best known companies throughout the world. They deal with companies like GlaxoSmithKline and Danone and provide stress testing equipment to enable firms analyse materials or carry out powder analysis.

Royal Wedding - The boost the UK needs?

I don’t know about you but I used to be a real anti-royal sceptic but in typical turn coat fashion as I am now running a business that is effectively dependent on the market and it’s buoyancy I am really hoping that the Royal Wedding may well be a real winner for UK plc. They are, absolutely, a great looking couple and I really hope Charles steps aside and lets these two do their thing - King and Queen!

Lots of jobs we just need some confidence

Working in recruitment keeps you in touch with the market - it’s the life blood of the business. It is an odd time at the moment because there are lots of jobs and lots of candidates looking for jobs it just the marriages in middle of an offer and acceptance are not quite as plentiful- odd!

Recruiter which is the leading magazine for the recruitment industry has some great articles at the moment with some bullish figures:

Top Language grads mean global opportunities

It’s not everyday we receive a client brief that really gets the team at Fusion in a spin. But late on yesterday afternoon that was exactly what happened. One of our clients had just called us to tell us that two new roles were now LIVE! and being recruited for with an underlined ASAP.

Is it a jobless recovery? Don’t believe the hype.

Jobless recovery! Journalists love their soundbites and need those headlines to sell their wares. Having just taken a moment to peruse the latest findings from the report on jobs published by KPMG most of the market stats can be nicely summised in one word - volatility!

So is it a jobless recovery? Well the stats don’t support this, if we believe what we are being told, as there has been a marked recovery in the number of staff appointments via recruitment consultancies since the darkening end of 2008.

Are digital jobs driving the recovery?

Not a day goes past at the moment when we don’t here that ‘another retail giant hits the skids.’ Today its the turn of ‘Oddbins.’ So what happened? I’m no retail expert but from an outsider looking in I would have said that its a combination of whole range of issues including economic climate - people are being a bit tighter with the cost of their vino, competition from supermarket convenience, a tired brand, not enough emphasis on web driven traffic, a poor level of customer and sales service when you enter their store.

War on Talent

You’ve heard of ‘battle of the bands’ a contest for mainly rock groups to make the biggest noise with most outrageous costumes well the recruitment market is bit like this at the moment. The prize isn’t a recording contract and major bragging rights but simply talent. Most recruitment agents are all jostling to have the ‘closest’ relationship with a ‘certain’ client and in some cases are very protective of this relationships and rightly so. This is one of the ways they can garner a market position to attract the best talent.

Where are tomorrow’s jobs coming from?

At Fusion we do occasionally indulge ourselves in a small amount of crystal ball gazing to keep a keen eye on where our next new client is coming from. When careerbuilder.co.uk announced the findings from a survey they had conducted it chimed with most of what we were experiencing on the ground.

Fusion offers big TEAM benefits

One of fun things about being involved in recruitment is the different people you met and talk to daily. Our candidates usually have a broad mix of professional experience and knowledge that they put to good to use whether in a senior management capacity or in a more junior executive role.
